Golden Cape Forest Park is Rovinj’s main coastal park-forest and green escape. You will see three names in use: Zlatni rt, Punta Corrente, and sometimes Cap Aureo.
The park covers about 52 hectares. It has been protected since 1948. Its modern designed landscape dates from 1890, linked to Georg Hütterott.
It works as a short, shaded nature break. It also works as a full-day coastal recreation area.

ToggleQuick planning snapshot
Best for: thermal comfort (shade), swimming, low-effort walking, cycling, couples, families.
Time needed:
1–2 hours: a relaxed loop walk plus one swim stop.
Half day: walk + one base bay.
Full day: 2–3 coves, longer shade breaks, and a slow return.
What it’s like:
A mixed shoreline: rocks, flat sun decks, and occasional pebbly pockets.
Dense pine canopy inland, but high solar exposure by the water.
Water shoes reduce slip risk at many entries.
Top tip: arrive early to reduce crowding and heat stress. Then schedule swimming for late morning or late afternoon.
Where it is
Golden Cape sits on Rovinj’s southern edge. Its main access points connect to Lone Bay and the adjacent hotel zone. The coastline is highly articulated, with frequent small coves. That variety supports repeated short stops and flexible itineraries.
How to get there
Walk (best option)
From Rovinj centre, follow the seaside promenade. For most visitors, the park is around a 15-minute walk.
Bike
Cycling is efficient and scenic. Paths are shared, so speed management matters near pedestrians.
Car + parking
Drive to the park edge. Inside, the dominant modes are walking and cycling. Parking rules and prices change by season. In summer, arrive early and follow zone signage.
Taxi
A practical option from anywhere in town. Useful in peak heat or with beach gear.
Why it is so green (quick history)
In 1890, Georg Hütterott began large-scale planting on the cape. Mediterranean and selected exotic species followed. A planned “Cap Aureo” resort concept did not fully materialise, so the forest stayed.
The best things to do
1) Do a simple shaded loop
Enter via a wide forest path.
Transition toward the shoreline for open views.
Select one cove for a swim.
Return inland to recover in shade.
Bring water, a hat, and footwear with grip.
2) Beach-hop between coves
An easy strategy is to pick one base bay. Move once when it feels busy. Finish at a quieter edge for a calmer exit.
3) Swim and snorkel
Water clarity is often good. Early hours tend to be calmer. Use stable entries and avoid risky jumps.
4) Morning run or brisk walk
Morning conditions typically support better comfort. Lower heat and fewer people improve flow on shared paths.
5) Climbing area (experienced only)
There is a small climbing zone near former quarry terrain. Check current access and safety guidance locally.
Best beaches and swim spots
Facilities can change by season. Use these names to structure your route planning.
Lone Bay (Uvala Lone)
Closest and most convenient. Strong option for first-time visitors and families. Best for: easy routines | Entry: mixed | Shade: moderate inland
Škaraba area
Rocky shoreline with clear water. Good for swimming and snorkeling. Best for: scenic swims | Entry: mostly rock | Shade: limited on the edge
Cuvi Bay (Uvala Cuvi / Kuvi)
Often feels less saturated. Useful when central coves become crowded. Best for: extra space | Entry: mixed | Shade: moderate on paths
Monte Mulini zone
A more serviced, hotel-adjacent segment. Good for short stays and easy access. Best for: comfort close to town | Entry: mixed | Shade: variable

Golden Cape morning + Old Town evening.
Add nearby islands on a calm sea day.
With a car, consider Bale or the Lim area.
